Owned and built by Berlin techno nightclub Bar25, Holzmarkt 25 stands as a development that grows as a neighbourhood with a focus on promoting change, small scale divisions and sustainability in a bid to resist the increasing developments of office space, luxury lofts, hotels and multi-purpose halls around the riversides of Berlin.

Holzmarkt 25 is a landmark precedent for the Rave Over Riot project, as it demonstrates the possibilities of how pockets within the city can be shaped and grow through the values of underground subcultures in a real and tangible way. It is important here, of course, to acknowledge that this exists in a city considered to be much more forward thinking of its cultural capital than London and to apply this thinking to a city like London can be useful if appropriately adapted to its context.
